Kafoglis Economics Nobel Laureate Lecture Series


The Emory Economics Department annually sponsors a lecture by a Nobel Laureate in Economics as part of its Milton and Virginia Kafoglis Economics Nobel Laureate Lecture Series.

Named after and founded by esteemed emeritus faculty member, Milton Kafoglis, this lecture series seeks to bring eminent economists to the Atlanta area to speak on important and relevant topics in economics to a broad audience.

Thomas J. Sargent

On Thursday, April 26, 2018, Dr. Thomas J. Sargent, William R. Berkley Professor of Economics and Business at New York University, Nobel Prize winner in economics, and world-renowned economist delivered a lecture on the effect the recent presidential elections has had on taxes, entitled "What Does the Trump 2017 Tax Cut Imply for the U.S. Economic Growth, Inflation, and Government Debt?."

Nearly 275 people attended, including many undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, faculty from many departments, and university administration.
