2026 Battle of the Fields

The 2026 Battle of the Fields took place on Saturday, April 25  starting at 10:00 a.m. on Kaminsky Park.  More than 50 faculty, staff, students and families attended to play or watch the game.

The Game

The following three teams participated in a round robin tournament with three games of 30 minutes each.  The games were refereed by John Latting, the Emory Dean of Admission.

Game 1: Microeconomics 7 Macroeconomics 2: Micro had an impressive start with three goals during the first 15 minutes. But Macro came back and scored two goals.  This did not help as Micro continued to pound the Macro's defense scoring four more goals to end the game with an impressive win and hope of a repeat championship.  The goal scorers in this game were Fidakar, Maxim, Nicholas, Hugo for Micro and Victor and Muzi for Macro.
 
Game 2: Microeconomics 1 Econometrics 2: This was perhaps the most exciting game of the day.  The Micro's decisive win prompted many to believe that Econometrics might be the second victim of the day.  This prediction was further reinforced when in early minutes of the game a serendipitous occasion provided Fidakar with an easy goal for Micro.  But Econometrics had a different plan.  With a solid defense and a strategy of long balls and wings that moved to the sides to stretch open the center, the team put its focus on deep penetration from the middle.  This paid off as they tied the game in early minutes of the second half with a goal from far away scored by Theo.  Later, a Pedro's acrobatic header kissed the net and sealed the deal for Econometrics.  
 
Game 3: Econometrics 5 Macroeconomics 2: Energized by its win over Micro, Econometrics started the game with the same strategy but more forward pressure.  Despite many opportunities, the first half had only one goal in the dying minutes of the first half by Guido.  The game intensified in the second half as Econometrics tried to establish its full dominance.  As a result, it scored four more goals by Austin and Mateo (3) early on in the second half.   In the last minutes of the game Macro scored two goals by Victor and Andy but that was not enough.  This gave the Econometrics the needed win to lift the 2026 Battle of Field Trophy.
